Dankzij een optimale dagelijkse inname kan vitamine D osteoporose voorkomen. Deze aandoening veroorzaakt brozere botten en een groter risico op breuken. Daarnaast beschikt deze vitamine over nog vele andere gezondheidstroeven voor ons lichaam. Ze stimuleert de spieren. Ze versterkt ook ons immuunsysteem en onze natuurlijke afweer, wat ervoor zorgt dat ons metabolisme beter kan vechten tegen virussen, ziekten en andere infecties.<\/p>\n<p>Studies die momenteel nog worden uitgevoerd, lijken erop te wijzen dat vitamine D ook in bepaalde mate bescherming kan bieden tegen bepaalde ernstige ziektes<sup>(1)<\/sup>. Een vitamine D-tekort kan trouwens leiden tot een aanzienlijk hoger risico op een COVID-19-besmetting en tot een ernstiger ziekteverloop.<sup>(2)<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;opensans darkgreen weight300&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1710242790524{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Vitamine D: een tekort komt heel vaak voor<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>2\/3 van de dagelijkse behoefte aan vitamine D wordt aangemaakt door de huid tijdens blootstelling aan zonlicht. Voeding moet het overige derde deel aanleveren.<\/p>\n<p>De voedingsmiddelen die het rijkst zijn aan vitamine D zijn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>vette vis (haring, sardientjes, zalm\u00a0\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>eieren<\/li>\n<li>kaas<\/li>\n<li>vlees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Een vitamine D-tekort komt heel vaak voor want we maken er onvoldoende van aan, vooral tijdens de winter. De hoeveelheid die onze voeding aanbrengt, volstaat bovendien niet om het gebrek aan zonlicht te compenseren. Daarom wordt een vitamine D-supplement aanbevolen voor de hele Belgische bevolking.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;5767&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;opensans darkgreen weight300&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1710242820508{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Vitamine D: COVID-19 en het dagelijks leven<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>In de COVID-19-pandemie wordt vitamine D vaak genoemd omdat het kan helpen om het virus op afstand te houden als je een verhoogde dosis inneemt. Deze vitamine ondersteunt immers ons immuunsysteem. De Europese Autoriteit voor Voedselveiligheid (EFSA) verklaart dat een dagelijkse inname van vitamine D tot 100 \u00b5g als veilig kan worden beschouwd (merk op dat in Belgi\u00eb een dosis tot 75 \u00b5g toegelaten is in voedingssupplementen). We moeten evenwel voorzichtig blijven: vitamine D beschermt niet even doeltreffend als een vaccin!<\/p>\n<p>Bij ons beveelt de Hoge Gezondheidsraad (HGR) vanaf de geboorte dagelijks een supplement aan<sup>(3)<\/sup>, van 10 \u00b5g\/dag (400 UI) bij kinderen en van 10 \u00b5g tot 15 \u00b5g (600 UI) bij jongvolwassenen tot de leeftijd van 18 jaar, al naargelang de individuele blootstelling aan zonlicht. Voor volwassenen raadt de HGR een dagelijks supplement aan van 10 \u00b5g\/dag, en van 15 \u00b5g\/dag voor wie risico loopt op osteoporose, en tot 20 \u00b5g\/dag (800 UI) voor zwangere vrouwen en moeders die borstvoeding geven (HGR, 2016).
